SATELLITE 2022 Preview: New Programs Pack a Powerful Speaker Lineup

SATELLITE 2022 comes at a time of peak activity involving public and private investment, rapid constellation deployment, increased urgency for sustainable space operations, and broad coordination on policy and open standards. The show takes place at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in Washington, D.C., March 21 to 24, with more than 225 speakers representing nearly 200 commercial space companies, government organizations, and global space agencies.

The opening luncheon keynote, “The Space Industry’s Great Climate Opportunity,” features Silicon Valley Bank’s Ann Kim and Space Capital’s Chad Anderson in a fireside chat on space-based climate monitoring investment opportunities.

The day two opening general session, “A Defining Era for the Satellite Industry,” features Mark Dankberg of Viasat, John Finney of Isotropic Systems, Tina Ghataore of Mynaric, Neil Masterson of OneWeb, Dan Goldberg of Telesat, and Sarah Schellpfeffer of Northrop Grumman. The Finance Forum (produced with NSR) covers SPACs, ESG investing, and space tourism. Executive Forum sessions co-produced by Euroconsult and GSOA include the debut of Eutelsat CEO Eva Berneke, likely the final SATELLITE appearance of Intelsat CEO Stephen Spengler before his retirement, and a space sustainability session featuring Amazon’s Kalpak Gude.

New for 2022: the “Inclusive Innovation” DEI program (produced with Space Frontier Foundation) on Tuesday and Wednesday, with three sessions and workshops including a DEI toolkit. Also new: the Geo-Intelligence Workshop track on Monday, covering satellite data analytics, SAR, environmental data for national security, and decision-making applications — featuring U.S. Army Col. Shane Taylor, Satellogic CEO Emiliano Kargieman, and Orbital Insight CEO Kevin O’Brien.

Startup Space returns in partnership with Rafferty Jackson, offering the winner private pitch meetings with Starbridge, SpaceFund, MaC Venture Capital, Toyota Ventures, Seraphim Capital, DCVC, and MoonshotX. VS
