      Harmonic Adds Ventura to Leadership Team

      Harmonic has appointed Lauren Ventura to vice president of channels.

      Ventura has over 20 years of experience including driving new business, building channel business programs, and executing overall marketing plans for global companies. Previous positions included consultant for Boston Consulting Group and Bain Capital, working on channel innovation programs and marketing strategy for several high-profile clients, as well as more than 15 years at Cisco in senior marketing, services, and channel roles.

      Harmonic also announced that founding CEO of Omneon Lawrence R. Kaplan is stepping down from day-to-day operations, but will continue on as an advisor.

      ILS Replaces McKenna with Phil Slack

      Launch services provider International Launch Services (ILS) has named Phil Slack as its new president. Slack takes over from Frank McKenna, who left on the same day ILS successfully orbited the EchoStar 16 communications satellite for pay-TV operator Dish Network on a Proton rocket from the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan.

      Slack had previously been the company’s vice president and chief financial officer. ILS’ owner, Russian Proton contractor Khrunichev also did not specify a reason for the management change.

      Skybox Imaging Hires Nassif as New SVP of Operations

      Skybox Imaging has named Tobias Nassif as senior vice president of operations for the commercial remote sensing startup to manage flight operations, customer service, image production and ground station deployment.

      Nassif’s previous experience includes 11 years as Intelsat vice president of satellite operations and engineering as well as vice president of space operations, along with service in the U.S. Navy in various operational roles. Nassif most recently held the position of Space Data Association (SDA) chairman.

      Space Data Association Names Intelsat’s Ron Busch as New Chairman

      The Space Data Association (SDA) has selected Intelsat Vice President of Network Operations Ron Busch as its next Chairman.

      In his current position at Intelsat, Busch is responsible for designing and implementing satellite-based data networks, video distribution systems and transmit/receive facilities and the design and implementation of the IntelsatOne global terrestrial network. Working for Intelsat for over 15 years, Busch was previously responsible for the overall management of Intelsat’s multiple operations centers.

      Busch has over 25 years in satellite communications, having held various engineering and operations positions in the U.S. Air Force, Satellite Business Systems, MCI, Timeplex and Hughes Communications. He succeeds former Intelsat Vice President of Satellite Operations and Engineering Toby Nassif.
