Globalstar LLC said it signed, through its subsidiary company Globalstar de Venezuela CA, an agreement to acquire the Globalstar service operations, including the satellite ground station, of TE.SA.M de Venezuela. Under the agreement, non-regulated assets were transferred to Globalstar de Venezuela. The transfer of the ground station and other regulated assets is subject to the approval of the Venezuelan Telecommunications Regulatory Commission. Globalstar said the acquisition should lead to a reduction in roaming costs for international customers and an improved coverage in the Caribbean region.

This acquisition “is part of our ongoing commitment to expand and improve Globalstar service for both international roaming customers working in the region as well as domestic Venezuelan users,” Globalstar President Tony Navarra said in a prepared statement.
