Measat Highlights Satellite Capabilities, Announces Next Launch
[Via Satellite 02-06-2014] Measat has announced its new satellite system and its plans to further support the growth of Malaysia’s ICT industry. The announcements came during an official visit by YB Dato’ Sri Ahmad Shabery Cheek, Malaysia’s minister of communication and multimedia, to Measat’s Teleport and Broadcast Center in Cyberjaya.
The visit was organized to show how Measat can support the Malaysian government and improve the ICT infrastructure across Malaysia. During the visit, Measat announced plans for the upcoming launch of the Measat 3b in May. The satellite will be used to expand video and data services across Malaysia, India, Indonesia and Australia.
“In order for Malaysia to achieve developed nation status, the Government has invested strategically in nation-wide ICT infrastructure to support the growth of our industries, services and rakyat. As an aspiring high income nation, broadband penetration in itself is not adequate. We need to facilitate high speed and stable connectivity,” said YB Dato’ Sri Ahmad Shabery Cheek.
