[Satellite TODAY 04-26-13] SPUTNIX and MultiClet have signed an agreement to jointly develop and apply highly performant fault tolerant low power consuming processors designed on the basis of multicellular architecture for control systems of small spacecraft.

The partnership will allow the companies to test the processors in real spaceflight conditions. MultiClet will provide the chips and SPUTNIX will provide the spacecraft for spaceflight testing.

“We believe that these processors have tremendous potential for space technology application. These chips have everything that space technology requires: high performance, low power consumption, affordable cost and most importantly, due to multicellular architecture, very high tolerance in conditions of space radiation,” Andrei Potapov, SPUTNIX general director said in a statement.

The tests will be conducted using SPUTNIX’s microsatellite TabletSat-2U, which is scheduled for launch in 2014.
