Thrane & Thrane Aviator 200 Certified for Wi-Fi Use on Pilatus Aircraft

[Satellite TODAY 03-29-12] Thrane & Thrane has received a Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) for its Aviator 200 SwiftBroadband solution that will allow the system to be installed with in-flight Wi-Fi aboard various Pilatus aircraft, the manufacturer announced March 28.
The STC follows the company’s successful installation and Wi-Fi testing of the Aviator 200 that was carried out with its partner Pro Star Aviation in February. Thrane & Thrane’s compact Aviator 200 system aims to allows aircraft operators to offer wireless connectivity during flight to Wi-Fi enabled devices such as laptops, tablets and smartphones.
“Receipt of the PC-12 STC is another key step forward in making the system available to the widest range of aircraft possible, enabling a new segment of users to take advantage of modern in-flight communications, provided by the system,” Thrane & Thrane Director of Aeronautical Sales Americas Andy Beers said in a statement.
