By Jeffrey Hill | March 19, 2012

[Satellite TODAY 03-19-12] Thrane & Thrane and its partners Tesacom Brazil and Stratos have delivered 600 Thrane & Thrane Explorer 325 vehicular BGAN terminals with push-to-talk units and associated server infrastructure to Elektro Brazil, the partners confirmed March 15.

The Explorer 325 terminals have already been installed on Elektro Brazil’s operating vehicles as part of an integrated dispatch communication system featuring voice and data connectivity and routing over 4G/3G/GPRS and Inmarsat BGAN. Thrane & Thrane said the deliver represented the largest Inmarsat BGAN delivery project ever in Brazil.
“Combining the strengths of cellular networks and BGAN makes the Explorer push-to-talk a perfect solution for utility companies such as Elektro,” Thrane & Thrane Vice President Henrik Nørrelykke said in a statement. “The utility market is important to us, but other sectors such as field service, search and rescue, oil and gas and mining can take advantage of our advanced push-to-talk solution.”
