SES Drops ‘Astra’ Name from Broadband Services Branding

By Jeffrey Hill | March 2, 2012

[Satellite TODAY 03-02-12] European operator SES has re-branded its Astra Broadband Services satellite Internet subsidiary as SES Broadband Services, the company confirmed March 1.

SES said the Astra2Connect service would be renamed SES Broadband to fall in line with the operator’s new corporate identity for all SES-related companies.
“The new corporate identity supports SES’ ambitious goals,” SES Broadband Services Managing Director Patrick Biewer said in a statement. “These include a unified service offering to customers across the globe. Leveraging on SES’ global presence and access to its entire fleet, we are convinced that the new names will strengthen our market position and benefit the expansion of our business into new and exciting regions.”
SES Broadband was introduced as Astra2Connect in 2007. The service currently maintains more than 80,000 subscribers.
