Gilat VSAT Contracted to Connect 14 Regional Centers in Kazakhstan

[Satellite TODAY 12-15-11] Gilat has been selected by Kazakhstan-based telecommunications company JSC NC Kazsatnet to deploy a SkyEdge 2 broadband satellite network to complement fiber and IP networks, the companies announced Dec. 14.
   Gilat will connect 14 regional centers in Kazakhstan with more than 200 VSATs in a multi-star topology using its NetEdge gateway solution. The Sky Edge 2 solution will be located in Astana, Kazakhstan to provide JSC NC Kazsatnet with an end-to-end solution for fiber backup and IP-connectivity, which will link to the regional centers. The deployment also will include 14 of Wavestream’s 40-Watt Ku-band solid-state block upconverters.
   “Gilat’s ability to provide a scalable and reliable network solution has been a decisive factor in our selection process,” JSC NC Kazsatnet Chairman Kanat Abildin said in a statement. “Featuring the unique capabilities of Gilat’s NetEdge gateway, this project establishes a broad satellite network that can support a diverse range of broadband services with maximum bandwidth efficiency allowing us to serve multiple customer profiles and scale the network as demand grows.”
   Financial details of the contract order were not disclosed.
