Romantis Selects Vitacom to Distribute UHP VSAT Products

[Satellite TODAY 12-13-11]Satellite network connectivity provider Vitacom has entered into a partnership with Romantis Group to become a distributor of its UHP VSAT products, Vitacom announced Dec. 12.
   To support the agreement, Vitacom said it has acquired and installed a UHP gateway at its state-of-the-art satellite teleport in Miami, Fla. and launched a new IP-centric solution powered by the Romantis UHP technology. The services were initially deployed to cover all of Africa on Intelsat IS-907 and will be eventually expanded to Latin America and Caribbean.
   The Vitacom UHP-based network provides high throughput IP connectivity and supports mesh capability, which aims to enable single-hop satellite connectivity between remotes and facilitates in enterprise networks deployed in emerging markets.
    Vitacom has also acquired a separate hub-less Mesh VSAT network from Romantis that supports complex topologies with remote terminals sharing the same TDMA carrier.
   “We selected the Romantis VSAT technology after extensive testing by our engineers has confirmed that it fulfills its promise of high IP throughput, bandwidth efficiency, quality of service and unique versatility,” Vitacom Vice President of Sales Bart Leichardt said in a statement.
