[Satellite TODAY 08-31-11] Hughes Network Systems has been contracted by Ecuadorian systems integrator and reseller Iseyco Ecuador to supply its advanced HN System, including a nine-meter Earth station and 1500 remote terminals, Hughes announced Aug. 30.
Iseyco Ecuador will use Hughes’ technology to power the delivery of its high-speed Internet access and voice services across Ecuador under a multi-million dollar contract it received from Ecuador’s state-run telecommunications operator Corporacion Nacional de Telecomunicaciones (CNT).
The HN broadband satellite system is designed to support a wide range of bandwidth-intensive services, implementing DVB-S2 with ACM to yield up to 50 percent greater throughput over the original DVB-S standard.
“We chose to submit our bid using the Hughes HN System because of its proven technological advantages and competitive price. The HN System provides excellent optimization of space segment with higher throughput, allowing us to provide a very cost-effective service. As a bidder on this important contract, it was imperative to choose a partner whom we trust would meet our expectations and those of the government of Ecuador,” Iseyco Ecuador Vice President Patricio Teran said in a statement.
