By Jeffrey Hill | July 15, 2011

[Satellite TODAY 07-15-11] Blue Sky Network’s (BSN) sister company in Latin America, BSN Brazil, has obtained a non-geostationary Satellite Global Mobile Service (SMGS) license, which authorizes the company to provide Iridium-based satellite services in Brazil, BSN announced July 14.

The company said the license is a key milestone in BSN’s business strategy to increase its presence as an Iridium satellite tracking solutions provider within the Brazilian aviation market.
“BSN is a critical member of the Iridium partner ecosystem and this certification marks an important opportunity to deliver communications innovation to the burgeoning Brazilian market, with its huge landmasses, extensive coastlines and expanding aviation community. Now BSN can deliver connectivity everywhere in and beyond the country to further help customers reduce costs, increase revenues and make connections that matter,” Iridium Executive Vice President Greg Ewert said in a statement.
