Vizada, Telemar Win 85-Ship Maritime Broadband Contract in Germany

[Satellite TODAY 03-10-11] Vizada and integration partner Telemar were contracted by German maritime information technology specialist Buss Data to provide an Inmarsat-based broadband communications solution for a fleet of more than 85 vessels, Vizada announced March 9.
    The two-year deal will see Telemar and Vizada equip Buss’ entire fleet of shipping customers with Thrane and Thrane FleetBroadband 250 systems. Telemar will provide the hardware and technical maintenance for the terminals as well as airtime management and billing. Vizada will provide Buss with satellite communications and customer care support, including its value-added Vizada Solutions, Terralink, Data Manager, The Source and SkyFile Antivirus services.
    "Buss Data continues to develop advanced software products for the shipping industry which require secure bandwidths for data transfers. Our aim is to utilize Telemar expertise and Vizada technology to minimize transfers and reduce costs," Buss Data said in a statement.
    Financial details of the contract were not disclosed.
