Hughes Signs Two Banking Network Contracts in India

[Satellite TODAY 12-02-10] Hughes Network Systems’ Indian subsidiary secured two managed network services contracts with a pair of Indian public sector banks, Hughes announced Dec. 1.
    The first contract award is from Allahabad Bank and valued at $9 million. Hughes will provide Allahabad with broadband services connecting 1,400 locations with satellite terminals and 1,000 with terrestrial MPLS links. Allahabad Bank plans to use the satellite and MPLS network to launch the second phaase of its core banking solution in urban and rural branches.
    The second contract, worth $3 million, was awarded by the Central Bank of India to deploy a network of 1,955 satellite terminals in order to expand its core banking solution to all its rural branches.
