By Staff Writer | June 25, 2010

[Satellite TODAY 06-25-10] Applied Satellite Technology (AST) has signed a service level agreement with the United Kingdom’s Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) to install and provide technical support partner for RNLI’s Iridium-based MOB Guardian satellite safety system, AST announced June 24.
The agreement details AST as a ‘one-stop-shop’ for all installation, technical help desk and customer service issues related to the safety system. AST, in conjunction with   RNLI, will arrange installation of MOB Guardian by an approved engineer and will aim to complete the installation in line with the standards set out in the new agreement.    AST also will provide a helpdesk service to help resolve operating problems with MOB Guardian and identifying and advising solutions.
The MOB Guardian system was developed by the RNLI charity to reduce the risk of fishermen in the UK and Irish waters dying every year.
