Spacenet Introduces New Emergency VSAT Satellite Service Offering

[Satellite TODAY 06-24-10] Spacenet has introduced its Emergency Communications Service (ECS) VSAT satellite solution, which leverages an always-on pay-as-you-use service plan with dedicated satellite bandwidth for emergency communications, the company announced June 23.
    The SkyEdge 2 VSAT-powered ECS is being targeted to public safety and first responder agencies such as police, fire departments and medical emergency teams as well as federal agencies who require network continuity for disaster planning with budget limitations.
    Spacenet has offered similar solutions to emergency organizations including a satellite equipment and service offering through a partnership with EchoStar to the American Red Cross in support of disaster relief efforts in Haiti.
