Norwegian Shipping Company Awards Broadband Service Contract to KVH

[Satellite TODAY 03-30-10] Norwegian maritime company DSD Shipping has selected services KVH Industries to provide broadband services via its TracPhone V7 satellite communications system and its mini-VSAT network, KVH announced March 29.
    The services aim to provide DSD Shipping crew members with multiple voice lines, broadband Internet, e-mail and onboard data access.
    “Prior to installing the TracPhone V7, we were using Inmarsat Fleet service. We chose to switch to mini-VSAT Broadband because it is a more affordable solution and also offers us more advantages for support and crew retention. Plus, the antenna can be installed in just one day,” Rolf Arne Herheim, technical director for DSD Shipping, said in a statement.   
    Financial details of the deal were not disclosed.
