Hughes to Become New York State Government Service Provider

[Satellite TODAY 12-10-09] Hughes Network Systems won a seven-year contract from the State of New York to provide a suite of managed services and connectivity under its comprehensive telecommunications services agreement, Hughes announced Dec. 8.
    The indefinite-delivery, indefinite-quantity contract enables state government users, such as statewide agencies, local governments and eligible non-profit, educational and charitable organizations, to purchase telecommunications services provided by Hughes. These services include digital subscriber line, cable-based broadband and fixed wireless connectivity, VSAT, space segment and mobile satellite services as well as equipment, installation, operations, and maintenance support
    “This contract opens the door for them to readily acquire critical applications and services such as continuity of operations, homeland security, distance learning, telework, telemedicine, and more,” Tony Bardo, assistant vice president for government solutions at Hughes, said in a statement.
