Stolt Selects Stratos for Fleetwide Satellite Network Contract

[Satellite TODAY 08-07-09] Stratos Global Corp. was awarded a contract from maritime transportation company Stolt Tankers to provide a high-speed satellite-based communications network for a fleet of 75 ships, Stratos announced Aug. 6.
    Stratos will provide Stratos Advantage network and crew-calling services from Inmarsat and Iridium to support crew communications and the recruitment and retention of well-trained seafarers. According to Stratos, Stolt was most interested in StratosAccess, which provides online traffic monitoring and alarms to indicate usage thresholds.
    Financial details of the transaction were not disclosed.
