SES Astra Sells Enterprise Network Capacity in Germany

[Satellite Today 07-31-09] SES Astra signed a capacity deal with German satellite service provider InSat, SES Astra announced July 30.
    InSat will use a transponder on Astra 2C to provide IP backbone services to small- and medium-sized enterprises in the Middle East and Caucasus region from 31.5 degrees East. SES Astra will provide uplink services from its facilities in Luxembourg.
    “We have chosen SES Astra because its Astra 2C satellite provides excellent coverage for our target region enabling our customers to receive our new service with a small-sized, 60-centimeter dish,” Valentin Gurinovich, CEO of InSat, said in a statement.
    InSat is the second customer contracting capacity on Astra 2C, bringing the total number of contracted transponders to five.
