Thuraya Invests in SpeakerBus Netted Communications

[Satellite Today 07-23-09] SpeakerBus has struck a deal with Thuraya to provide netted communications solutions to its customer base through a service branded Thuraya NettedComms, SpeakerBus announced July 22.
    Thuraya NettedComms integrates different communication technologies into a single closed user group, bringing ThurayaIP, Thuraya handhelds, Public Switch Telephone Networks, GSM and radio systems together to serve government, military, homeland security, maritime, NGO, emergency services and disaster management sectors.
    “If we look at crises such as hurricanes, earthquakes, floods and fires that lead to disrupted telecommunications services we can see the edge of Thuraya NettedComms which has the ability to facilitate communications especially when what is needed instantaneously is a malleable solution that can integrate disparate communication technologies,” Thuraya CCO Sven Rohte said in a statement.
