Level 421, Expand Networks Form Partnership to Optimize Global Enterprise Bandwidth

By Staff Writer | June 22, 2009

[Satellite Today 06-22-09] Expand Networks, specializing in optimizing WANs for branch office consolidation and virtualization, has formed a partnership with Level 421, a satellite broadband communication teleport operator, in an effort to alleviate the satellite bandwidth capacity pressures for distributed corporate environments, Expand Networks announced June 18.
Level 421, a provider of two-way Internet broadband connectivity based in Germany, said it chose to partner with Expand due to its ability to reduce capacity through its compression algorithms. The partnership will be focused on providing services to industrialized nations in Africa, the Middle East and Asia.
“Due to the geography of these regions, it is precisely these poorest markets that have the least broadband capacity, and therefore the most demand for expensive satellite communications. We specialize in covering areas where local carriers cannot deliver broadband solutions at an acceptable quality or cost. WAN Optimization technology was the logical solution for us to maximize existing assets to enable high-performance connectivity back to the European backbone from these regions,” said Markus Haut, general manager of Level 421, in a statement.
