KVH Signs Asian Maritime Agreements with Sky Perfect JSAT

[Satellite Today 06-04-09] KVH Industries signed a multi-year agreement with Sky Perfect JSAT to lease satellite capacity on the JCSAT-1B and Intelsat-15 satellites, KVH announced June 3.
KVH will use the satellites to provide mini-VSAT Broadband service coverage in Asia-Pacific waters and the Indian Ocean starting late in the third quarter of 2009 and early in 2010, respectively.
Separately, KVH said it will pursue hardware and mini-VSAT broadband airtime sales in the Asia-Pacific maritime market, under an agreement to grant Sky Perfect JSAT exclusive rights for sales to Japanese-flagged and Japanese-owned vessels. KVH will focus on all other vessels in the region.
