GMV Products to Control Nilesat Satellite

[Satellite Today 11-17-08] Egyptian satellite operator Nilesat, has selected GMV‘s satellite monitoring and control product and flight dynamics product to operate the Nilesat 201 satellite, GMV announced Nov. 17.
    Nilesat will use GMV’s hifly product to control the satellite and GMV’s flight dynamics product, focusGEO, to perform the flight dynamics operations. The satellite, being manufactured by Thales Alenia Space, is based on the Spacebus 4000B2 platform, which is fully supported by GMV products. The procurement includes the provision of a main control center to be located in Cairo and a back-up center in Alexandria, Va.
     Nilesat 201 will carry 24 Ku-band transponders and 4 Ka-band channels. The satellite will enable digital DTH and radio broadcasting services and high-speed data transmission services over North Africa, the Middle East and the Gulf area beginning in February 2010.
