Hughes Secures Intelsat Capacity to Service Latin American Market

[Satellite Today 10-20-08] Hughes do Brasil, the Brazilian operating entity of Hughes Network Systems, will implement services on new Ku-band capacity on Intelsat’s Galaxy-28 satellite, Hughes announced Oct. 20.
    The new capacity will be used to meet growing demand for HughesNet broadband services throughout Latin America, Hughes said. Hughes will offer customers in the South American market the portfolio of HughesNet solutions and services, including backup of MPLS networks, managed corporate networks, distance learning networks, high-speed Internet access and IPTV solutions.
    “The Galaxy-28 satellite offers us strategic infrastructure, as it ensures that we will have the capacity necessary to keep pace with the growing demand for broadband services in Brazil and across this region,” Delio Morais, president of Hughes do Brasil, said in a statement.
