Isle of Man Opens Institute of Space Commerce

[Satellite Today 10-01-08] The International Institute of Space Commerce (IISC) will officially open Oct. 4 at the International Business School on the Isle of Man, IISC announced Oct. 1.
     The joint project between the International Space University (ISU) based in Strasbourg, France and the government of the Isle of Man will have three international institutes — an International Institute of Space Commerce, an International Institute of Space Law and an International Institute of Space Tourism.
     The purpose of the institute is to develop the island’s political commitment to develop space commerce, space friendly legislation and commercial benefits to space companies, including low taxes and access to orbital filing slots.
