Orbcomm to Include GSM Wireless with Services

[Satellite Today 09-24-08] Orbcomm signed a deal with a Canadian wireless carrier to incorporate GSM Wireless services into Orbcomm’s service package and expand the company’s terrestrial and dual mode wireless, Orbcomm announced Sept. 24.
The deal allows Orbcomm to offer blended plans that incorporate both cellular and satellite wireless services at lower prices, the company said.
“Several of Orbcomm’s resellers and end users are currently utilizing dual mode products in the United States and other areas,” Marc Eisenberg, Orbcomm’s CEO, said in a statement. “We expect that several of these will be introduced to the Canadian market as we roll out services there.”
