Russian Information Technology, Communication Markets Set for Growth

[Satellite Today 09-23-08] Revenue in the Russian information technology and communications market is expected to total 50 billion euros in 2008, according to a report by the European Audiovisual Observatory.
    The report featured experts who provided an analysis of recent evolutions in the regulation of television and audiovisual media services in Western Europe and an overview of digital television and video on demand in Western Europe.
    “The Russian market clearly shows massive growth potential, and we felt it was important to publish accurate and reliable data on the current state of digital television in this country,” Wolfgang Closs, the Observatory’s executive director, said in a statement.
    The observatory, part of the Council of Europe, presented the report via digital television.
