[Satellite Today 09-11-08] Globecomm Systems Inc. has been awarded a managed network services contract from Indigo Wireless, Globecomm announced Sept. 11.
Under the agreement, Globecomm said it will provide managed network services supporting subscribers in a rural GSM mobile network as well as its SatCell hosted switching, network management and base station control services for Indigo’s network of GSM base stations and will offer a full range of services, including SMS, data and E-911 to Indigo subscribers.
David Hershberg, CEO and chairman of Globecomm said, “The agreement with Indigo Wireless is our largest SatCell contract to date.  It is also the first SatCell network operating without satellite, either for backhaul of traffic or control of signaling.”
