EMS Satcom Introduces Packet Data Terminal For Force Tracking Applications

[Satellite Today – 8-25-08] EMS Satcom introduced an Iridium-based packet data terminal for use in force tracking systems, the company announced June 23.
The eNcompass PDT-300i terminal operates around the globe and is designed specifically to enable critical communications capabilities required for force tracking. The fully integrated, single-piece product offers with a lower profile than the PDT-100 terminal and when combined with EMS Satcom’s Multi-network Gateway, provides AES 256 encryption.
“The combination of the PDT-300i terminal and our Gateway has a number of significant characteristics that allow us to offer a solid force tracking system,” Stephane Momy, sales director for EMS Satcom, said in a statement. “For example, we have added a protocol layer on top of Iridium’s already reliable network, which
enhances the system’s robustness, and in recognition of the critical nature of forces tracking, the system can be software-upgraded and configured over-the-air in the battlefield.”
