Globecomm Awarded Earth Station Contract

[Satellite Today – 06-03-08]  Globecomm Systems Inc. received a blanket indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity (IDIQ) contract to provide fixed and transportable ground stations to an unnamed global multilateral organization, Globecomm announced June 3.
    Under the three-year contract, which could be worth up to $117 million, the customer will be able to procure the terminals for deployment around the globe. The contract includes a pair of one-year extensions as well as options for depot spares, field installation services, extended warranty and maintenance support.
    "Our customer’s global reach demands reliable satellite terminals to satisfy their IT network backbone,” Mike Plourde, vice president of government programs for Globecomm, said in a statement. “Our field-proven Summit and Explorer products have been part of their network for several years. We look forward to continuing our relationship and supporting their mission with our products and services."
