[12-19-07 – Satellite Today] SES Astra signed its third contract to market its high-speed internet access service to consumers in Germany, the company announced Oct. 19.
Yato, a telecommunications provider based in Zug, Switzerland, will use the Astra2Connect service to offer its clients triple-play services via satellite. Astra2Connect is wholesale broadband service that SES is making available to European service providers that target residential and small enterprise markets.
SES Astra previously signed distribution agreements with Germay’s Filiago and StarDSL.
"With this Yato contract, the ramping up of the Astra2Connect service and subscriber base continues successfully," Alexander Oudendijk, SES Astra’s chief commercial officer, said in a statement. “Astra2Connect offers consumers a highly attractive solution to access high-speed internet in regions where terrestrial services are not available. We are also continuing to discuss with marketing partners in other countries in order to maximize the reach of this new service and continue the successful roll-out.”
