Telenor Announces Likely Thor 5 Launch Date

[11-08-07 – Satellite Today] Telenor Satellite Broadcasting (TSB) said Nov. 8 that its Thor 5 satellite is likely to be launched Feb. 7. Thor 5 is Telenor’s first satellite in its replacement and expansion program. TSB has had to wait for a new launch date as a result of the JSAT launch failure in September.
    The Thor 5 satellite, which will be shipped Baikonur later this month, will be equipped with 24 high powered transponders which will provide service coverage in the Nordic countries, Europe and the Middle East. The launch of Thor 5 will support and enhance TSB’s ambitions in serving customers in the Nordic region, as well as supporting growth in central and Eastern Europe.
