Iridium, Tesacom Expand South American Market

[10-29-07 – Satellite Today]  Iridium Satellite has formed a partnership with Tesacom to help grow the South American market, Iridium announced Oct. 26.
    Tesacom, a South American channel partner for Iridium service provider Stratos Global Corp., provides integrated communication solutions to South American markets such as Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Paraguay, Peru and Uruguay. Tesacom offers satellite voice and data transmission, text messaging, localization and monitoring, mail and file transfer, network integration, software services, professional, consulting and field support services.
    "Our alliance with Stratos and Tesacom, both well-respected leaders in the telecommunications sector, will provide an important boost in offering Iridium services to the growing South American market," Greg Ewert, executive vice president, Iridium Satellite, said in a statement. Iridium voice and circuit switched data traffic originating in South America has grown by 25 percent throughout the last year, the company said.
