Yahsat CEO Talks Exclusively To Satellite News

[08/16/07 – Satellite Today] In his first major interview with the international trade press, the CEO of new Middle East satellite operator, Al Yah Satellite Communications Company (Yahsat) outlined the company’s plans to Satellite News. Jassem Al Zaabi told Satellite News that strong demand for satellite capacity has led to an opening for a new player such as Yahsat, even though there are many satellite operators present in the Middle East.

Al Zaabi said, “The question is more about the users than the competition – it’s a matter of demand. I believe all the competition is doing a great job in this market however, demand is outstripping supply today in the market. When Mubadala (the owners of Yahsat) looked at the market in depth we could see that there was a demand emerging for a new player to enter the field, and so we decided to pursue this opportunity.”
