[Via Satellite 12-04-2014] Azercosmos has signed an agreement with Gilat Satellite Networks to use the SkyEdge 2-c network to provide multi-application satellite managed services on Azerspace 1. The SkyEdge 2-c system uses enhanced forward channel technology to increase second generation Digital Video Broadcasting – Satellite (DVB-S2) bandwidth efficiency, expand forward carrier capabilities to 67Msps using Adaptive Coding and Modulation (ACM), and support multi-forward carriers managed as a single pool with automatic load balancing of terminals.

“Our Azerspace 1 satellite reaches a customer base spanning Europe, Africa, the Middle East, Central Asia and the Caucasus,” said Rashad Nabiyev, CEO of Azercosmos. “We appreciate the multi-application nature of Gilat’s SkyEdge 2-c platform, which enables us to target a diverse set of markets including broadband, mobility and cellular backhauling.”
