[Via Satellite 11-17-2014] Australian broadcaster Super Radio Network (SRN) has chosen International Datacasting Corporation’s (IDC’s) Star Pro Audio Solution to upgrade and expand its satellite radio distribution network. Today the company broadcasts 36 AM and FM radio stations, 45 translators and five Sydney DAB+ radio stations, the majority of which are delivered by satellite. The upgrade will provide room for additional programs, which SRN intends to make available to regional stations.
The new network with will use Second Generation Digital Video Broadcasting – Satellite (DVB-S2) for bandwidth efficiency. Optus Satellite has located the new SRN carrier on the same transponder and satellite currently in use, meaning regional stations will not have to adjust or repoint satellite dishes. IDC’s upgrade also includes the new Star-4 receivers, which provide four separate high quality stereo channels.
