[Via Satellite 10-30-2014] Lockheed Martin has opened its new headquarters for commercial space in Denver, Colo. The new facility will become the prime location for the manufacture of the A2100 satellite platform, which the company has been aggressively overhauling to capture more of the commercial market.

The Colorado Economic Development Commission is enabling up to $15.5 million in state income tax credits for Lockheed Martin dependent on new jobs created instate over the next eight years. Current A2100 satellite projects in Colorado include the U.S. Air Force’s GPS-3 program and the NASANOAA Geostationary Operational Environmental Satellites R series (GOES-R). Exports to international customers comprise the bulk of Lockheed Martin’s A2100 fleet.

With the new Colorado headquarters complete, Lockheed Martin is closing its Newtown, Pa. facility. The decision was announced in 2013 as part of a phased transition plan.
