[Via Satellite 03-17-2014] M/A-COM Technology Solutions has introduced a high-power, full E-Band power amplifier that will deliver typical Psat of 25.5 dBm for the 71 to 76 GHz and 81 to 86 GHz frequency ranges in a single product. The amplifiers are optimized to enable fiber-caliber data rates over long distances across 10 GHz of available E-Band spectrum and will equip designers with point to point transceivers expected to maximize design flexibility by eliminating the requirement for two different amplifiers to be used to cover the full 71-86 GHz E-Band frequency band.

The MAAP-011106 E-Band power amplifier is suited for small cell wireless backhaul infrastructure and enables data rates of 1 Gbps and higher to accommodate data demand. The amplifier offers a broad bandwidth that can reduce transceiver design and manufacturing costs through the consolidation of Pas within compact, multi-band systems. Each device includes an integrated power detector and supports 20 dB of small gain with variable gain control.

“With the introduction of our E-Band power amplifier, we’re making it easier for transceiver designers to achieve high linear power and gain control over the full E-Band spectrum, while including the convenience and performance of an integrated output power detector,” said David Richardson, product line director, wireless, MACOM.
