Kratos’ RT Logic Subsidiary Delivers Next IP-Routing Iridium Modem

[Via Satellite 03-11-2014] Kratos Defense and Security Solutions’ subsidiary RT Logic has delivered its 60th T4000SDM software-defined modem to Iridium Communications. The modem bridges the Internet to the Iridium constellation of low Earth orbit (LEO) satellites.

Iridium’s satellite constellation enables global mobile voice and data communications with a network of ground teleports around the world. Users in remote locations can communicate directly with an Iridium satellite, and the constellation directs the data packets to the teleport closest to the destination. The RT Logic T400SDM provides gateway interface to the IP-based terrestrial Internet and the RF signal processing uplink and downlink to the satellite constellation at each teleport.
