During his career\, Dr. Akashi specialized in Radiation and Radiation Emergency Medicine\, receiving numerous awards and becoming Executive Officer in 2016. He served as Executive Director of National Institute of Radiological Sciences (NIRS) from 2011 to 2015 and Director of the Center for Radiation Emergency Medicine from 2008 to 2010 at NIRS. After the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant (NPP) accident he played a leading role in providing advice and support as an expert regarding radiation emergency medicine. His team performed dose assessment of residents in Fukushima and also for emergency workers who were involved in recovery tasks at the Fukushima NPP. \nNCT Asia Pacific will provide updates on CBRNe emergency preparedness and response approaches at various levels. The involvement of first response actors and military stakeholders will provide useful perspectives for all attendees against the background of existing CBRNe threat environments.
