SES-11, a hybrid C-/Ku-band satellite, went into service at 104.95°W. The C-band side replaces AMC-18 C-band. The Ku-band side replacing AMC-15 is leased to Echostar and is named "Echostar 105."

 

AMC-1 Ku-band will move from its current location of 129.15°W to 130.9°W in order to prepare for the arrival and activation of SES-15 at 129.15°W. AMC-1 has had FCC authorization on Ku-band and after the slight longitude change, the C-band side will be added to its FCC authorization. The C-band will essentially be co-located with SES' AMC-11 satellite.

 

Pennsylvania Cable Network (PCN) is gone from a signal on SES-2 C-band (87°W) at 3,856 MHz horizontal polarity in DVB-S format with a symbol rate of 2,167. PCN chose to use terrestrial delivery of their signal to cable companies.

 

New York State Media Services Center, primarily distributing New York Lottery feeds, launched a signal on SES-2 Ku-band (87°W) at 12,134 MHz horizontal polarity in DVB-S format with a symbol rate of 3,978.

 

Kroenke Sports and Entertainment completed the move of their various video services to a signal on Galaxy 17 C-band (91°W) at 3,880 MHz horizontal polarity in DVB-S2 format with a symbol rate of 30,000. Altitude Sports and Entertainment and World Fishing Network's distribution signal is gone from Galaxy 17 at 3,985 MHz vertical polarity. The distribution signal for Outdoor Channel left 4,176 MHz horizontal polarity on Galaxy 18 C-band (123°W).

 

Azteca network feeds left 12,123 MHz vertical polarity on Galaxy 25 Ku-band (93°W) and went to Galaxy 19 Ku-band (97°W) at 12,188 MHz horizontal polarity in DVB-S format with a symbol rate of 2,220.

 

SCOLA's eight educational channels left satellite delivery for internet streaming. The channels were located on Galaxy 19 C-band (97°W) at 3,993 MHz vertical polarity.

 

CBS Worldwide Distribution, PMI, and Warner Brothers launched a new Pitchblue distribution signal on Galaxy 19 C-band at 4,080 MHz vertical polarity in DVB-S2 format with a symbol rate of 30,000.

 

GDMX's Pitchblue distribution feed left 3,740 MHz vertical polarity in DVB-S2 format with a symbol rate of 30,000 on Galaxy 16 C-band (99°W).

 

TCN Country was added to a SES platform signal on SES-1 C-band (101°W) at 4,128 MHz vertical polarity in DVB-S2 format with a symbol rate of 17,169.

 

American's Auction Network (AAN) has gone off the air. AAN was distributed on SES-3 C-band (103°W) at 3,921 MHz horizontal polarity.

 

Airbox, a service using terrestrial broadcast transmitters to deliver some pay television programming, ended their service. Distribution feeds in an ION Media signal on SES-3 C-band at 4,040 MHz horizontal polarity are gone.

 

El Garage TV and La Nacion + are new to a signal on Eutelsat 117 West A C-band (116.8°W) at 3,889 MHz horizontal polarity in DVB-S2 format with a symbol rate of 8,000.

 

A SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket carrying a Dragon cargo spacecraft successfully launched on December 15 from Cape Canaveral. The unmanned spacecraft is headed to the ISS carrying 2,205 kilograms of supplies and equipment.

 

Four Galileo satellites were launched into orbit on December 12 aboard an Ariane 5 rocket from French Guiana. The European satellites will join the existing Galileo constellation providing navigation services worldwide.

 

Yaogan-Weixing-31 (also known as the Land Surveying Satellite -1 or LKW-1) was launched aboard a Long March 2D rocket from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center on December 2. It is a Chinese remote sensing satellite.

 

A Soyuz rocket carrying 19 satellites failed to reach the correct orbit after launching November 18 from the Vostochny Cosmodrome. The main payload was the Meteor-M No.2-1Canadian weather satellite.
