Welcome to the first edition of 2026 for Space Security Sentinel (S3), our dedicated newsletter for the space and cybersecurity industries. Our main story in this edition is a look at 10 Defining Moments in Cybersecurity and Space in 2025. This is always a super interesting feature as it is brings to light key cyber events and what the space industry can learn from them.

Last month I attended Black Hat Europe, and I was struck about how many times the term “AI security” came up. As AI has become more mainstream, the role it will play in space-based cyber is likely to become more pronounced. Certainly, it will enable nefarious actors to become even more efficient in attacking space-based networks.

I would like to wish the S3 community all the best for the year ahead. We look forward to working with you. CyberSat is now a year-long endeavor, and this year we will be bringing you webinars, newsletters, and video coverage as well as the event itself in November.
