Focus on Defense

“It is not a technology problem … Integration is probably the largest challenge that we are seeing because of the multiple phenomenologies that we’re bringing to the sensing domain.”

That was the message of Paul Wloszek, vice president and general manager of Spectrum Solutions at L3Harris Technologies, and other experts in a recent conversation about the data fusion and integration challenges ahead for the Golden Dome missile defense initiative during GovMilSpace.

Speaking of Golden Dome, the White House released its fiscal 2027 budget proposal on Friday, which called for a “historic increase” in defense spending and fully funding the Golden Dome missile defense initiative. This includes “space-based missile defense sensors and interceptors, kinetic and non-kinetic missile defeat and defense capabilities.”

Also in this edition, details of a virtualized cloud satcom gateway demonstration during SATShow Week, which could have implications for defense applications of commercial satcom.
