Redwire Acquires Small Satellite Technology Company Roccor

Space solutions company Redwire on Thursday said it has acquired Roccor, a designer and manufacturer of subsystems and products for small satellites. Roccor, which is based in Longmont, Colo., provides structures and systems for small satellites. Its products include deployable booms, antennas, thermal products, solar arrays, deorbit devices and structures. The company has been involved on more than 75 launched systems and its products are used on missions for NASA, the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) and commercial space companies.

Redwire said this acquisition will expand it technology portfolio to include deployable structure systems designed for commercial and military satellites. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. Redwire, which has close to 300 employees following the acquisition, is a portfolio company of AE Industrial Partners and was formed in June through the acquisitions of Deep Space Systems and Adcole Space. Redwire in June also acquired Made In Space, a provider of on-orbit space manufacturing technologies.

“Roccor is exactly the type of company we are looking to add to the Redwire platform, a proven growth company with a list of top tier customers, that is also an industry disruptor,” Peter Cannito, Redwire’s chairman and CEO, said in a statement.

Chris Pearson, president of Roccor, will continue to lead the company. “The global satellite industry is growing rapidly, and the financial and operational support from Redwire and AE Industrial Partners will present Roccor with new opportunities that will lead to the next level of growth,” Pearson said in a statement.
