[Via Satellite 05-06-2015] In preparation for the United Kingdom’s May 7 general election, television channels and news agencies have booked more than 400 hours of capacity on four Eutelsat satellites, the company reports. The satellite operator is involved in helping media report from voting booths and other important locations throughout England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland as well as 10 Downing Street, Westminster and the headquarters of political parties.

Eutelsat has streamlined the coordination of bookings during the weeks leading up to the election. The company’s booking center lets customers complement permanently leased capacity with bandwidth booked on an ad hoc basis from as little as 15 minutes to several days.
