[Via Satellite 11-10-2014] Russian Satellite Communications Company (RSCC) and Germany-based Romantis have partnered to create a new Direct-to-Home (DTH) TV platform for coverage in Africa. Current and new broadcasters will be able to use the service package to launch and promote national and regional TV programs across the continent.

RSCC and Romantis have a long-term partnership that includes managing capacity on several transponders on different RSCC satellites. The new agreement employs RSCC’s recently launched Express AM6 satellite and VicusLuxLink’s German teleport.

“In accordance with our target, when the satellite is commissioned and put into the commercial operation, we are planning to deliver the TV broadcasting services on the African market which presents a very attractive business platform,” said Yuri Prokhorov, director general, RSCC. “The broadcasters will get the ready-made solution to provide such services.”
