ViaSat Moves Closer to 2010 Global Coverage Goal

ViaSat has appointed Satcom Direct as a value-added reseller and customer support liaison for its new Yonder mobile broadband service, ViaSat announced Mar. 5.
    The deal provides coverage over North America, the North Pacific, the Caribbean, the North Atlantic, Europe and the Persian Gulf. ViaSat said it is cooperating with maritime broadband service-provider, KVH Industries, along with its resellers, to reach a goal of providing worldwide coverage by early 2010.
    By leveraging ViaSat’s ArcLight mobile satellite technology, which includes a 12-inch, lightweight antenna, Yonder aims to offer entertainment and data and voice communication services for corporate, business, and military aircraft, giving passengers the ability to conduct business operations while in flight with office IP network applications and services.
