Wegener Develops Encoder for Nielsen

[Satellite Today 10-16-08] Wegener Corp. unveiled its Nielsen SpoTTrac Digital encoder product for Nielsen Co., Wegener announced Oct. 15.
     SpoTTrac Digital is an encoding and watermarking solution that enables the automated broadcast verification and commercial tracking services offered through Nielsen Tracking Services. SpoTTrac Digital enables Nielsen’s customers — including broadcasters, advertisers and producers — to verify that their high-definition and standard-definition commercials, public service announcements, promos, and other media content air on television and to track audience exposure to those messages. 
    “SpoTTrac Digital will enable Nielsen to support its customers’ expanding broadcast tracking and verification needs as the media industry prepares to end analog TV transmissions in February 2009 and transition into a fully digital TV era,” Ned Mountain, president and COO of Wegener, said in a statement.
