ProtoStar, Intersputnik Finalize Orbital Location Services Agreement

[Satellite Today 09-05-08] ProtoStar Ltd. confirmed that it signed an orbital location services agreement with Intersputnik International Organization of Space Communications (Intersputnik) of Russia, ProtoStar Ltd. announced Sept. 5.
    Under the agreement, which has been filed with the International Telecommunications Union, ProtoStar will provide C- and Ku-band services in Asia using the ProtoStar 1 satellite at 98.5 degrees East. The agreements were reached prior to ProtoStar 1’s July launch, the company said.
    ProtoStar has completed in-orbit testing and expects to begin commercial service Oct. 1, offering capacity to direct-to-home, broadband Internet and GSM cellular backhaul service providers throughout South and Southeast Asia.
